- He born 1938 London

• First job Account Clarke - Unilever

• 1957 conscripted to the R.A.F and became a Cartographer

• Met and advised by a young painter call Paul Wolfington and encouraged to move on

• 1960 Enrolled Camberwell School of Arts & Crafts – Intermediate – Through education in Drawing, Modelling and Painting

• was taught by Hans Coper, Dame Lucie Rie, Colin Pearson and Brian Newman

• No go at Paining, 3 Dimensional Yes

• Obliged to do a Craft and choose Pottery for his 3 Dimensional possibilities

• Met & Fell in love with a painter call Christine Benfield

• Left Camberwell with Distinction

• 1964 Enrolled the Royal College of Art for 3 years under David Queensbury

• Married Christine

• Gained his M.A.R.C.A and A.R.C.A

• I realised I was a Socialist so I had to pass on my knowledge

• 1967 Talked at Hornsey College of Art

• 1968 Student Unrest and since then worked in every and any Colleges & Universities in the British Isle

Influence:

- Keith Vaughan – as he makes beautiful drawing of man bodies – lovingly done and full “angst” - What a waste.

- Euan Uglow – Exact drawings of everything alas Camberwell – Fruits – Vegetables – Flowers – I wanted to pay homage – I had arrange a meeting with him the day before he died – Same than Him & Brancusi

“Mum was a dress maker so surrounded by Patterns, fascinated by flat fabric to the three dimensional forms, seemed obvious to use Patterns to create pieces.

Anything can be made using a Pattern – that's what I do – Pieces should have a title: no use, useless, discard, interest, everything, especially jewellery.”
